Dr. Mendez was an Associate Member at Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center’s Clinical Research Division, Associate Professor in the Department of Otolaryngology/Head and Neck Surgery at the University of Washington School of Medicine, and Co-Director of the Head and Neck Oncology Program and Tissue Bank at UW. Dr. Méndez was also the co-principal investigator of the U01 grant in the Cancer Target Discovery and Development Network, and the PI on an investigator-initiated clinical trial testing WEE1 inhibitor for treating p53 mutant HNSCC patients. Eddie helped to usher in a new era that combines genomics with functional studies using patient-derived cells to truly personalize cancer treatment.
